“I was so far in the closet I was in Narnia.”

So today in English we had to write an essay on a controversial topic and show both sides and propose a compromise/solution or something.
Anyways.
I chose gay marriage.
Part of my argument was that a lot of the people against gay marriage say it’s because it’s a sacred religious practice.
I pointed out the ways it is no longer sacred and not really religious seeing as you don’t actually have to practice any religion to get married.
Someone who edited my paper got all pissy and was like “HOW DARE YOU SAY MARRIAGE IS NO LONGER A SACRED RELIGIOUS RITUAL?!”
Bitch please.
Some reasons why:
A lot of people are cheating. I mean there’s even a fucking website to help married people cheat. Yes, obviously the people that are allowed to get married are treating it like a sacred thing.

I can really see the holiness in this one. Literally.
Want to be married for a few hours and then get it annulled? That’s cool too as long as you’re straight.
But this:
Apparently this is not okay.
Two adults who have been together for years and very much want to be married are not allowed to because of a law based on religion in a country whose state is supposed to be separated from the church, are a disgrace to the sanctity of marriage.
And to the people whose only argument is that it makes them uncomfortable?

Anyone who thinks that’s okay is, in my opinion, completely disgusting and deserves to get the shit beat out of them.
Your feelings don’t get to control other people’s lives.
How are these laws any different from previous laws that promoted discrimination against certain races?
If you’re defense is that being gay is a choice and that’s how it’s different, you’re an idiot. If you’re that dense nothing logical can be explained to you.
